In Memoriam

Danny R Robbins was born February 9, 1948 in Franklin, Indiana to Bernard Ray and Zelda Neoma Robbins.

Dan was an honor graduate of Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana. After high school and acceptance letters from several colleges, Dan decided to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology graduating in 1971 with a degree in Industrial Management. While at Georgia Tech, Dan was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.

Dan was owner of Hobby Haven in Conyers for over 20 years bringing happiness and expertise to hundreds of model train buffs, model rocketeers, remote controlled airplane enthusiasts, and plastic model builders of all ages.

More recently, Dan was a founding partner of TCD Squared in Eatonton making specialty products for the supermarket industry. His many interests included genealogy, car restoration, and reading Science Fiction of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. While many people of Dan's age have reluctantly plodded into the world of computers and technology hesitant to learn more about them, Dan ran at this new world with open arms and an open mind. In the 1980s, long before any of us ever knew what a computer bulletin board was, Dan ran a bulletin board, the 8-Bit Tar Pit. His desire to learn more never ceased, always looking for and embracing the most recent developments in technology. Dan had an incredible gift for grasping and understanding new concepts, and computers were no exception. Dan was a true Renaissance man. With him passed an utterly amazing storehouse of knowledge about astronomy, World War II, and military ships and airplanes. He would happily share his extensive knowledge with anyone without being bombastic or patronizing.

If one were fortunate enough to meet Dan, one would immediately recognize that he was a great man with a kind and loving soul and a keen intellect. Dan's greatest gift was his innate ability to be kind to everyone he met. It simply was not in his nature to be anything but decent and loving to everyone. This gracious and loving attitude was shown countless times as Dan struggled with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis during his final years. His kindness and loving nature will forever be missed by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Anne Mygatt Robbins; his son Matthew R Robbins (Lisa) of Conyers, GA; his daughter Kristina Marie Spencer (Keri Sedita) of Raleigh, NC; two grandsons, Justin and Tyler Spencer of Raleigh, North Carolina; an aunt, Esther Leamnson and a half-brother, Mike Leamnson both of Roanoke, VA, and a few remaining cousins.

The world is a much sadder place without the living presence of this great man. He will forever be remembered, respected, and deeply loved by all of those who were blessed to have known him.
